Partner Success Story: TrueNorth, Aaron Ellsworth

TrueNorth is an independent insurance agency specializing in commercial, personal lines, and employee benefits. They operate four locations in the United States. As one of the top 40 brokers in the country, they place about $1.5 billion in premiums annually, which is unique for a privately held company. Because they operate with no outside financing, no private equity, and don’t report to the stock market, it positions them as a company that can truly understand their clients and get creative about solving their problems. They have the market clout to get things done while maintaining a highly personalized feel, which their clients appreciate.

How Much Business Have You Given During Your Time with Accelerent?

Our priority was ensuring our entire team was involved in Accelerent. We’ve given lots of introductions to clients, but I’ve never sat down to count. Helping is just part of our core business and who we are. We believe that if you keep giving, it will come back to you tenfold. Accelerent is just in line with who we are.

How Much Business Have You Received During Your Time with Accelerent?

Though we are relatively new to the Accelerent Partnership, we have definitely received some business and many of the connections we have made have been incredibly valuable. We are currently working on some big projects that we probably wouldn’t have been involved in if we weren’t a part of Accelerent. For example, we met an executive with a complex insurance issue at one of the Accelerent Executive Lunches. We have offered a different solution and are hoping that will lead to a sizable new account in the near future.

What Advice Do You Have for Other Accelerent Partners or Prospective Partners?

We realize the importance of our leadership’s involvement in the Accelerent platform to lead the way and ensure our sales team’s commitment and involvement as well. It was a little overwhelming at the very beginning but after the first 30 days, we came up with a focused plan that is working well. It’s been a great partnership, and we’re excited to see it continue to grow.

Additional Thoughts

First and foremost, we are in Accelerent for the long game. We want to invest our time in building relationships with the other local, successful Accelerent Partners. It takes time to build trust with our new Partners and the real value of Accelerent comes from these new relationships.
